ACHS to Start Monthly Free Tuesdays Beginning in December, the Anoka County History Center and Library will offer its exhibit gallery for FREE on the first Tuesday of each month. The History Center is located at 2135 Third Ave. North in Anoka, and is open from 10:00am to 8pm on Tuesdays. The historical and genealogical resource library has always been free and will remain free to the public for research. “Free Tuesday” will enable all Anoka County citizens to view the current displays including “Women in Wartime” and “Law and Ladders.” Individual patrons may roam the gallery at their leisure. Groups are also welcome and may make reservations for a guided tour. New exhibits open several times each year, so patrons will want to come over and over again. The very first “Free Tuesday” will coincide with the opening of ACHS’s newest exhibit, “Tell Me a Story.” The focal point of the exhibit is a story booth where visitors can tell their own stories to a recorder. Patrons may want to share their story individually or interview style with family members or friends. The information collected will give future generations a little insight into who we are now in the early 21st century. We all have a story and this is the opportunity to share it! So ask Grandpa about his memories of Vietnam, or ask Mom how she felt being the first woman on a project team, or tell the future generations what high school is like today. Plan to visit the History Center for all this and more. For group reservations, or for additional information, please call 763-421-0600. Also visit us on the web at www.ac-hs.org.
